What I want to know is with the 5 or 6 weeks overrun did KCC go over the £2.6 millions grant given to them by the Government. Maybe there is a bit of cash left to reinstate the crossing they took away by Angel Walk. A very popular place for people to cross. I know the traffic is meant to be going at 20mph but tell that to the motorcyclist I saw today. People are crossing all over the place in safety. I don't think the lower speed limit has reduced the traffic noise so you wont catch me sitting outside one of the cafes. Maybe if you are a smoker you don't mind the fact that Tonbridge High Street is one of the most air polluted in the country The general appearance of the pavements has improved for now but over time the red bricks will darken. I can see no point in the roundabout being moved a few yards at great inconvenience for a few weeks and no doubt a good chunk of the budget. With the narrower road overtaking is impossible, you just have to wait behind the buses and cyclists but we knew this was going to happen. And where do the Blue badge holders now park? Finally you may recall the council complaining about A boards being put on the pavements because the visually impaired could have an accident, the same can applied to some of the benches they have positions right on the pavement edges.
All we need now is the hanging baskets to be put out!
I'd agree with you on the benches and indeed the cycle parks. I did wonder if anyone else was concerned about this. It just shows you that, even after all the committee meetings and brain storming that the councils and construction teams must have gone through, not to mention the highly paid consultancy services they probably paid for, even then they didn't see the problem. If it weren't our money they've squandered it would be comical!...
