Millets to survive?...
...And on the subject of shop closures or non-closures, as the case may be, TonbridgeBlog also understands that Millets is staying open although there's some doubt as to whether it will stay a Millets outdoor shop our turn into a JD Sports (that's the group which took them over) or morph into something in the middle of the two (MD Sportletts?) Probably wouldn't be such a bad thing actually in Tonbridge to be able to buy some well cool Addidas trainers while you're browsing the waterproof wallets and walking socks. Could liven up a very tired brand. But then what do I know?!..

If it were to turn into a JD Sports that would almost certainly mark the beginning of the end of the other sports shop in the high street (can't remember the name but it used to be Christopher Hull).
But Christopher Hull's shop goes back at least 60 years when it was run by his father Arthur and was opposite the Rose and Crown.
What's cool about Addidas? Certainly not the price!
The town is already divided between those who walk around in sports clothing when not doing sports, and those who don't.
Not sure what the ratio is in Tonbridge between the chav and chav nots.
