The Germans are coming!... to off load their debts....
Interesting article appeared today on the Telegraph web site with the heading: "Tunbridge Wells the 'debt capital of Europe'" Apparently near bankrupt Germans are coming over here having built up large debts in Europe in order to declare themselves bankrupt. This is due to Britain's far more lenient bankruptcy laws. Why Tunbridge Wells then? Apparently they like the area, it's quintesential Englishness appeals; it's also close to Ebbsfleet, so they can go home easily with all the money they've saved. Actually zee Tonbridge town ist just as gut and even closer to the Eurostar station. But we should probably keep quiet about it on this occasion!...

Oh dear, another example of what a bunch of wallies we are in this country. We must be the laughing stock of europe because of things like this and our relaxed immegration laws.Our bankruptcy rules are way too easy as this demonstrates. Bring back the debtors prisons I say!

Squads from Ukraine and Belarus are to be based in Tonbridge for both the run-up to and the duration of the 2012Games, using Tonbridge School and Tonbridge Judo Centre, for their training and preparation camp.
I am not sure what benifit this will have for the town as its only teams of about 50 and Tonbridge school probably buys its supplies elsewhere but even so Mr Books can order a feww english russian dictionaries.
