All go for Fuggles Beer Cafe....

Fuggles have the go ahead. By all accounts it is now public knowledge that they have been granted planning permission for what is currently Bonners furniture shop. But will they also have competition close by at Ye Olde Chequers Inn? According to the Landlord and Lady someone will be taking over from them in the not too distant future. If it's who the rumour mill is telling me it is then it'll be another great place to have in the town centre. I said that Tonbridge had great potential when I moved here. It's just that it's taken 27 years for others to realise it!

I heard through the grapevine that Sankeys were sniffing around? Would be a great boost for the town if true...

I wasn’t going to say anything, but the rumour which Brett has heard, match what has reached my ears. There was also another rumour about a revamp for the Slug & Lettuce, so it seems as though it’s all happening in Tonbridge at the moment.

ps. Great news about Fuggles, and if you take a look at my blog, there’s good things happening at the Greyhound out at Charcott, with Larkins taking over the lease.

so, is all this new activity a vindication of the council's regeneration plans or, as I suspect, just a response by business to the increase catchment in the centre of the town now? With the line up of eateries in, and planned, for the town I would have to say things are looking good. Just need to somehow entice some retailers to the town now - either a large brand or smaller, diverse shops such as own very own Mr Books..
