Words really do fail me for once....

Now really is there any need for this mess boys and girls. Actually that is a bit of an assumption that the litter louts (do we still use that phrase?!) were boys and girls so apologies if it turns out that a bunch of old grannies are responsible for the mess! I saw this shameful sight one evening recently on my way home from work whilst walking through the park near the tennis courts and the footbridge to Bradford Street. Now I'm a pretty tolerant kind of a guy but come on: Where's the manners, the general decency, the civic pride? Just nowhere to be seen I'm afraid. In its place we have neglect, a lack of moral fibre, a complete lack of respect both self respect and respect for the town and others. There is a bin within twenty feet of this table and I'm sure that most others seeing his picture will be equally horrified if not altogether surprised....

It's so sad, I just don't understand the mentality of people who drop litter or leave graffiti. Sadder still, assuming it was a bunch of kids, people are too scared these days to tell them off for it.

That particular table is always in a state. Probably the closest one to waddle over to from McD's. Always a bunch of glassy eyed yoofs sitting there.

The picture quality is poor because the light was bad but you should just about be able to make out the wrappers and empty tins from a party pack of Fosters lager, many McD's wrappers, boxes and bags and more plastic bags from a multitude of food and drink packages. As I said in the post there are lots of bins in the vicinity so there's no one to blame but the selfish, lazy so and so's who just couldn't be arsed to walk the ten yards to dispose of their garbage....

This has been left by kids or young adults - no assuming necessary. It's not going to get better either unless they fall into the river and disappear in their glassy eyed state or get so fat from eating junk they can't get out of their homes (or should I say cages). Why should it get better - we all know it won't change and that's the unbelievable truth.

How about getting one of the useless parking wardens, and instead of him skulking about the supermarket carparks giving fickle tickets out to harrassed shoppers, whilst ignoring all the halfwits parked in the high street on double yellows, causing tailbacks to the top of Quarry Hill etc, they put him in the park giving tickets out to litter louts.

Beware extending the power of the so called Civil Enforcement Officers too far beyond their parking tickets jusrisdiction. It would be the slippery slope. They would wouldn't descriminate between this sort of blatant abuse and an old lady accidentally dropping a tissue in the street. They'd just issue the same on the sopt fines with no discretion, just like the dog poo police. That can't be the answer can it?

They will probably grow up to be civilized adults at some point. But some teenagers are blinkered by behaving decently, until they are a little older. I think most of the kids in Tonbridge aren't too bad considering some places in our country. So, if you've got kids and you are reading this - please let them know it's not ok to leave the table as they do in McDonalds - there isn't a minion to clean up after them in the park!
