Goodbye Pepper Grinder....

It's always sad when any local business closes but it's even sadder when an apparently thriving one closes right near you. Especially when it's the place you used to buy your sandwiches from! Now that the Pepper Grinder has wrapped it's last tuna mayo bagette on white with butter, extra mixed salad and black pepper where will I go now for my weekly treat? I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye to the girls in there but I wish them well whatever they chose to do next. Maybe someone will see an opportunity and open another equally fabulous sandwich bar at the north end of the High Street....

According to todays local rag, somebody wants to turn the old Burton's shop into a farmers market shop/cafe. If it comes off you could buy from there and make your own lunch. One wonders what will happen to the fruit/veg stall right outwide?

That's a shame, my Mum will be sad, she often treats herself to a sandwich from there.

I suppose the lure of a 99p sandwich has proved too strong to resist.

why do keep having to advertise if a business closes on your blog. it is nothing to do with you!

anon 2.49, its local news dont you know. Tonbridge is lucky, when a shop close its not long before another one opens. Unlike Margate where one shop closes nothing takes it place and the town is in the bottow 6 in the country for percentage of unoccupied cloed shops.

It's always sad when a business is forced to close but especially when that business is a small independent trader. Those of us who struggle to compete against the large chains have an uphill battle. I am so sorry to see Peppergrinder go. Good luck girls in whatever to do next.

Hi every one the Pepper grinder is open again and has all the same lovely staff that prepare and make great tasting sandwiches. Please feel free to spread the good news and to pop in for some lunch!
