Wrong type of bulbs!...

The View along Tonbridge High Street at 4-30pm
I know that Tonbridge Blog has had a good moan about this once or twice before but really is it acceptable to have so many street lights at the North end of the High Street out? I counted seven between the corner of Bank Street and the Ivy House alone not working the other night (around half the total on that stretch.) We are told that because this is a conservation area the lamp posts are of a different type and therefore the bulbs more difficult to obtain. Sound familiar? The wrong type of bulbs to coin a phrase! The wrong type of council more like. What the heck are they playing at, it's been like this on and off for at least two years now. Recession or not it's just not on to keep us all in the dark like this. Save money where you can but not on street lighting surely. So come on TMBC and KCC stop arguing over whose responsibility it all is and sort it. It costs shops trade in the winter months and it's probably a God send to burglars and thieves....

Its down to KCC, if you know the location of each dud lamp then ring 08458 247 800 or you can report on line. I have reported a few in the past as its a bit like pot holes, KCC dont go looking for them. You can always contact your local KCC councilor. You get the oppotunity to vote for a new one this week. I am not sure if I want to be represented by the one that lives in rural Sevenoaks and poses for election photos by the Castle, a bit of a fraud. In the TMBC elections candidates have to live in the TMBC area and this should be true for KCC elections too but living anywhere in Kent is permited.

You could also use Fixmystreet website. Somebody has reported that the junction in Bank Street is dangerous, lights out in Quarry Hill and pot holes in Deacons Lea.
