Food Shortages in Tonbridge!...

Sainsbury's Car Park full up?
Apparently Waitrose was like a rummage at a church sale yesterday as people poured in to grab seemingly any food and drink they could lay their hands on. The reason for this temporary insanity seems to have been that the up market food retailer had decided to close its doors until Tuesday. Shock horror! That's three whole days that you'll have to manage on just the food in your, probably already overstocked, cupboards. It's fairly well known that, if push came to shove, then most households would comfortably be able to last a week and, with a bit of imagination and resourcefulness, maybe two or three weeks on the food in the house. The problem is you see we've all got too used to our cushy lifestyles. We think that the family will go to ruin if we don't have some Cars water biscuits and brie in the fridge or if we're down to our last bottle of M&S Bucks Fizz. Come on let's keep a sense of proportion, no one is going to starve just because Waitrose is closed for a few days especially since I've just heard Sainsbury's are staying open all weekend anyway. Don't blame me if there's now a riot at Sainsbury's as old grannies fight it out over who gets the last bag of frozen prawns....

It's hilarious isn't it. I went in for a loaf of bread and milk yesterday and walked straight out. There must have been 20 people in each queue. Yes, I will survive - I have left overs in the fridge and with a bit of imagination could, as Tonbridgeblog suggests, live for about a week on what I have in the stores cupboard and freezer. And, if not I will lose a bit of weight - BRILLIANT. No wonder Tonbridge is called The Fat Town it really is filled with a a load of fatties.

Sainsbury's was just as bad yesterday. There were no parking spaces to be had, so I ended up dropping my wife off, and picking her up later. She said it was manic in there, as though the world was coming to an end!

Just returned from an empty Sainsbury and now have a freezer full of smoked salmon. £9.99 to £4.99 down to 99p tonight. It's not always the early bird that catches the worm!!!!!

My New Year resolution is to play the price raise game the best I can.

I will never speed in my car and so do them out of a speeding fine.

I will walk whenever I can and use the car only when necessary to avoid buying more petrol.

I will avoid parking in any car park and do my shopping after 6pm to stop giving my hard earned pennies to TMBC and giving the traffic wardens a job.

I will never allow myself to get a parking fine - they are not going to get another penny out of me.

I am only going to buy enough necessary food and if any fresh food is substandard will return it to the supermarket and complain and get my money back.

These are only little savings but nobody is getting anything out of me for nothing any more. I am sure there are many other little ways we could save individually but done en-mass they could really make a difference.

If we all did this there would be no parking fines, speeding fines and retailers would be more careful what they put on the shelves.

We can make a difference. Make a stand people
