Tonbridge Blonde....

I still haven't tasted Blonde Ambition, the only beer that I'm aware our very own Tonbridge Brewery produces. I'm told it's very nice and that, among other places I can try it at that pub in the middle of the Pantiles (Duke of York is it?) But, hang on, that's in Tunbridge Wells! Surely there are one or two Tonbridge pubs serving the lovely stuff. Here's what the CAMRA Good Beer Guide says about it: "Tonbridge Brewery was launched in 2010 using a four-barrel plant and is run by Paul and Lynne Bournazian. It produces cask conditioned ales using only Kent grown hops and supplies pubs within a fifteen mile radius of Tonbridge." Oh yeah, which ones then? Blonde Ambition the guide descibes as: "A crisp, clean blonde ale with a refreshing bitterness and slightly spicy aroma." Right that's it; how long's it take to drive over to the Pantiles. Oh no, strong beers, better get the bus!!..

Of course technically, being in Tudeley, the brewery isn't actually Tonbridge based. But we'll forgive them for that just so long as the beer tastes great!...

Well, I have not seen it in any public house in this town. Would be good if some bar could at least take it on...

Only place I have seen it, and tried it, is the Longmead Lounge at Tonbridge Angels FC.

Had it at Tonbridge Angels, SIBA beer festival and the gods waiting room that is The White Rock Inn, Underriver. Trust me it's not worth looking for. The new Kent brewery currently under construction nr Maidstone looks far more promisIng.

This weekend I finally managed to sample a pint of Tonbridge Brewery beer, at the Anchor in Sevenoaks. It wasn't brewery's Blonde, but their dark seasonal called Ebony Moon. At 4.2%, it was packed with roast malt flavours and nicely hopped.

Try Blonde Ambition at the Royal Oak Beer Festival this weekend. Auburn Myth also there. Punch & Judy in Tonbridge will have Auburn by Sunday and it is always on at the Plough in Leigh. Heading north you can get Tonbridge ales at the North Pole Wateringbury, Fox & Hounds Romney St (twixt Shoreham and Otford). Ebony Moon at Kentish Rifleman Dunks Green.
