Quiet before the storm?...

Not alot going on this week in Tonbridge. Someone mentioned a fire but I must have missed that one; so do tell more if there's anything to say on that subject who ever it was. Other than that a very quiet week. Maybe the quiet before the storm! I get the impression that there's uncertainty in the air as people wait to see what kind of effect the new Government will have on the country and, more importantly, them individually. People are slightly worried about their jobs and what the intended cuts in spending and services will mean. Seems to me that there's more talk than action at the moment as all the new ministers start to blame the outgoing government for all the world's woes. It is unsettling but what can you do? Probably my best advice is to get on with life till we know more and, of course, you could always lose yourself in a good book till it's all settled down!...

The new Government certainly need to sort out the public finances, and quickly! The last shower have saddled the country with a massive debt burden, which will take years to pay off. It's certainly going to be wake-up time for the bloated public sector, and not before time!

Don't know where you've been hiding TB, to have missed the fire? The building affected is the old Groombridge's Funeral Parlour in Quarry Hill, which is now without a roof and looking in a very sorry state.

I drive past the place each day on my way to and from work, but only really noticed the damage on my drive home on Monday evening. Presumably the fire must have occured over the weekend? Can anyone shed any further light on it? You really are slipping missing this one, TB - much more news-worthy than a barbers shop getting a new coat of paint!!!!!

PB: I obviously am slipping to have missed the Great Fire of Tonbridge! Don't forget I'm only a one man band, juggling lots of balls and mixing my metaphors. You, the people of this great town of Tonbridge, are my eyes and ears. So go forth people of Tonbridge and seek out those big stories, those titbits of gossip and spill the beans so we can all be party to your knowledge!...

You lied to us, TB. A more recent post informs us that Tonbridge Blog isn't always the same person, and yet here you are saying that you are only a one man band!

How about coming clean, and telling us the real truth.
