You see signs in some towns and city centres requesting that people don't feed the pidgeons. You see it encourages them to be there. I spotted this lady feeding the feathered creatures by the river in Tonbridge this very morning; there she was in a world of her own (planet pidgeon possibly) throwing them clumps of bread. Didn't they all just love her as well. You can see that by the way they are clucking and squarking around her feet as they peck away at the bread on the ground. But what damage do they do to the nearby buildings and castle walls with their claws and beaks and droppings? Personally I don't much care for clucking things but I don't mind them that much either. Rats with wings some people call them. Is this just a harmless way to spend your Wednesday mornings or wouldn't it be better if we put them in a pie?!..

Tunbridge Wells have the right idea. I hear they're using trained hawks to chase off the sky rats, because of the damage they cause to buildings. They are a big problem.
When I cycle through the park and spot a group of them pecking at a pavement pizza, I always pedal towards them at speed; sometimes I manage to get one with the back wheel, other times not.
Eat one of those filthy animals in a pie? No thanks!
Hawks for pidgeons. Yes I read that too. Not a bad thought actually. Pidgeon pie used to be a common dish on the English table I think. As for trying to ride over them with your bike that's just pluming ridiculous!...
Pidgeon pie is fine, but only when made from proper wild..wood pidgeons, not those stinking, cooing things you get in towns. If you ate one of them, you'de be dead in a week.
Did you know that sky rats breed all year round because of the abundance of food in towns? If you can waste just one of the evil little critters with your bike or car, you've probably stopped the future hatching of at least 20 more of them, so it's not as ridiculous as you might think.
Have you seen the amount of pigeons that are living in the empty house opposite your shop?
They often wake me up with their clucking (do they actually cluck, or is it something else?)
They have as much right to live on planet Earth as humans have, so get over it. they are here to stay.
Presumably the same applies to rats,bed bugs and the rabies virus.

You're rite abbaat the speling so eye stande korrectid. Although, if you read Bill Bryson's splendid book Mother Tongue, you'll realise that it hardly matters anyway how we spell things....

I don't see the problem with pigeons in the town, they don't cause me any inconvenience or stress so I don't see why they seem to rile other people. They are here to stay so I'm afraid you'll have to put up with them.
The woman in the picture actually seems to be feeding the ducks and swans, is this a problem?
AirRaidPatrol: you're right it does look like she's feeing the ducks and swans but I can assure you that if I'd been 3 seconds quicker whipping out my camera she'd have been feeding the pigeons in the photo!
