Warning to book thieves in Tonbridge....

I opened up an old leather bound copy of Fern Leaves From Fanny's Portfolio by Fanny Fern today (interesting title and actually quite scarce but that's by the by!) and on the first page was stuck a small label with these rather charming words:

Steal not this book for fear of shame,
For here you see the owner's name;
But if you do, the Lord will say,
"Where is that book you stole away?"
And if you say, "I cannot tell,"
The Lord will say, "Go down to hell."

You have all been warned!...
