Another Christmas Joke....

I thought I'd save some money by having the broken down washing machine repaired by Mr. Tait, who's usually pretty handy with electrical gear. Call out fee £38.75, needs new bearings, aprox £100 for the job makes it just worth doing rather than buying a new Bosch for around £330, which his son can supply; arrives 2 days later with his side kick (actually its his son) you had to be there but it was like having Laurel and Hardy round for the morning, let's just say they shouldn't be working together. Could fix it but now needs new drum as well as bearings, estmates £200; so I agree to let his son supply us with a brand new Bosch. Later the same day (yesterday) Oliver Hardy turns up with a new Bosch but in the back of his small hatch back. How the hell did he get it in there? I wonder. Anyway, he seemed to know what he was doing and re-did the drain outlets and all sorts of other things. We got to the stage where he was giving us a demo before my wife (thank God) realised that the new washing machine was a centimetre or two too deep and therefore the dishwasher door couldn't open. He'd been there over two hours by this time for God's sake; I know it's after the event, but surely if he's supplying washing machines the first thing to do is size up the hole where its going to be fitted. The result, to cut a very long and boring day short, was that we've been without a washing machine for about a week and a half, we've spent £60 on call out fees and fitting costs and last night another £250 on a new Indesit (which God willing, will fit into the hole in the kitchen) You may find this all very amusing but I can assure you last night I was not laughing!....
