Tonbridge Schools Lottery....

Since it doesn't directly effect me I haven't really followed the 11+ results this year. Nor have I had to become involved in the usual schools lottery for places at Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Schools. No doubt the only boy's grammar school in the town, Judd School, will be taking the usual cream of the crop from a wide area and doing its bit to clog up all the roads as Tonbridge and Hildenborough boys, who have passed their 11+ test, are forced to go to school in T Wells if they want to take up their deserved grammar school place. (That is unless they happened to score top marks in all their tests, probably as a result of intensive private tuition, which has turned them into robots, or have a brother already at the school.) It's probably no less stressful for the girls of Tonbridge, although at least most of them get to go to good schools in the town they live in. TOGS, WOK and Hillview, by all accounts, are all excellent schools in their own ways and Hugh Christie, the only mixed school, has just had huge amounts of cash pumped into it (and our own Dame Kelly Holmes went there!) I've got all that to worry about soon, but not for another year. (If there are any kids reading this blog try not to worry; it will only be the single most important thing effecting your education and career for the rest of your life)....
