Post Office closures are DISGUSTING. Time for action....
Tonbridge blog is disgusted of Tonbridge over the, now approved, closures of Shipbourne Road and Hectorage Road post offices. It's been said before, but it's worth reiterrating that, 20 years ago there were 4 post offices in South Tonbridge; in a few weeks there will be none. Disgusting can be the only word for that. Earlier this week there were huge queues at the main PO in the centre of the town, not suprising since there were only 3 out of 7 desks manned (actually usually womanned!) This before the closures; disgusting I call it. Olive at Hectorage Rd, is easily the best sub post mistress (or master) I've ever had the pleasure to be served by; this level of service will never exist at the central PO. Disgusting once again. So come on what can we all do about it; probably nothing but we'll never know unless we try. We are all disgusted but no one seems prepared to vent their disgust. Tonbridge blog proposes the simple action of boycotting the use of the central post office for a whole week starting on Monday. This will demonstrate support for the closing POs in a positive way, it's a peaceful way to demonstrate and a week of no business will be very damaging to the main PO, so the effects will probably get back to the head office and those fat cats in charge. It may not change the result but by God it would send a powerful message home to them that people-power can still bring about a change of heart. So let's do it, spread the word, no one use the main PO for a whole week as of Monday....
