Get rid of Parking Attendants now....

Traffic Wardens (or should I say Parking Attendants) don't we just love 'em. They are a real annoyance aren't they? But at least they keep the traffic moving and raise vital revenue for the council. WRONG! According to The Courier today they actually cost us more money than they bring in, in fact nearly £90,000 year more. I know for a fact that they cannot possibly keep the traffic moving because they spend nearly all their time with the easy pickings of the poor souls who are a few minutes late back to their cars in the car park. They cost businesses money because they drive people away from coming to the town and especially from stopping at local shops. In the last few months I've seen three or four people done outside my bookshop in Bank Street, I've been booked outside Goldsmid Road PO, my crime? nipping in to post some parcels! If we had proper traffic wardens, working for the police, at least they would serve a wider purpose, but these leeches really don't contribute a thing to the community, except bad feeling and enraged motorists. And now it's official that they don't even raise any finances for the council. Time to get rid of them....
