It came and it went! Thousands of Kent folk from all around lined every stretch of the race route three deep, people climbed up lamp posts, up step ladders and hung out of windows to gain a better vantage point. Then, after a seemingly long wait, the promo caravans, looking colourful, French and very flamboyant; then we had a long wait until a small leading group came flying by, lots of motorcyclists, gendarmes, and then a hugh bunch of cyclists, the peloton, decked out in a fabulous array of bright colours whirred by in a what seemed like an instant. A thousand digital cameras snapped in unison, a million moments captured within a few, all too brief, seconds. All over very quickly but what a spectacle. Great for the town. I've never seen so many happy faces around since Kelly Holmes triumph. Wonderful. Vive Le Tour! I may even buy a bike....
