In the dark on Street lighting again....

I don't want to sound like a Moaning Mini (what do you mean it's too late!) but when are the useless sods on Kent Counnty Council's Highways Department going to sort out the street lighting on Tonbridge High Street? The picture doesn't make it that clear but just in the stretch from Silvermans Jewellers to the Ivy House pub (all of 75 yards) there are not one, but four lamps out. It's bloody incredible how incompetent these clowns can be. We've had this one before of course, the KCC Highways Dept. will inevitably blame Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council for insisting on a certain type of street lamp in the conservation zone, which this area is in, and therefore they are stocking the wrong type of bulb! In other words one dept. is blaming the other for the incompetence and in the meantime nothing gets done and we're all left, quite literally, in the dark. Sort it out for God's sake before some poor soul gets run over, murdered or mugged....

I agree - it's so pathetic it's hilarious. Take a look at the 'conservation area' lamp posts around Bordyke, East Street and Lyons Crescent. Very attractive, tall and serene imaging those that were scrapped in the 60's or 70's in the High Street. But then look a little closer - oh yes - they have had to be blacked out with - wait for it - black tape or black spray paint to stop the light shining into residents' bedrooms throughout the night. Before these were replaced the very efficient lamp posts had a shade to spare the intrusion of light, but the new ones were obviously not thought through properly. can TMBC employees not do research - do they actually do a site visit or randomly pull pretty lamp posts out of the sky. Can employees of TMBC think - well not very well - they are certainly of limited talents as the fiasco of the lights continues. Duhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Credit crunch has hit Tonbridge - now we can't even get a lightbulb or two!

Until these are reported into the KCC Highways system they will stay out. So have you reported them?
It's all down to KCC Highways. Its only taking them nearly 3 years to put a crossing by Castle Court even though the site developer gave them the£35,000. I know planning is a slow process but why wasn't this started when the building was going up?
Now this is a KCC election year so maybe the lights wil get fixed by May.
Now I reported 8 of 12 out in a stretch of the Hadlow Road on the 4 of November. Guess what - they are still out!!

Sorry this is a different subject.
Having just returned from North Farm Dump/Land Fill I am slightly confused. Amongst various things I took to recycle was a box of recyclable plastic. On asking where to leave them I was told there wasn't any facilities for plastic and to dump them in the non-rycyclable waste area. I bought them back to Tonbridge and placed them in the containers outside Sainsbury. I found this most strange and don't understand why there isn't just one rule for the area - either dump plastic or recycle it. Is this TMBC again and why are they sending out mixed messages.
This is from the official website.
Recycled: metal (washing machines, fridges etc), paper, cardboard, glass, engine oil, textiles, CFCs, cans, foil, car batteries, gas bottles, soil/hardcore, garden waste, books.

Accepted but not recycled: furniture, paint, plastic, asbestos cement products, hazardous waste (for example, chemicals), household waste.

btw there was a lampost blazing light in Lyons Crescent at 2.30 pm.
Just to make you hopping mad. It will probably go off just in time for night fall.

I think they will 'start working' when a royal comes to visit!

So that's what the royals are for!
