Time to protest....

You'd think that there were loads of empty retail properties and offices in Tonbridge unable to be let; the example I'll cite is the large retail unit on on the corner of Church Lane, which I understand used to be the Oxfam shop a few moons ago. I happen to know that potentail shop keepers are queueing up for these properties; so why has this one and others like it been standing unused for at least three years. It isn't because no one wants to use them that's for sure! There really ought to be something the borough council could do about this, but there clearly isn't, otherwise one would hope that they would see the negative image such eye sores give to the town. The historic part of the town needs lifting not being left to lay in dereliction. Perhaps it will be left for the people of the town to voice their opinions through this site, letters to the press, speaking up on radio phone ins, joining a pressure group, such as the Civic Society, writing to the council, both Kent and TMBC, writing to John Stanley, and even taking to the streets in mass protest. You see there are things that we can all do, if only we had the time....
